People is reporting that Highway Patrol Police in Florida still want to speak to 33-year-old Tiger Woods about his car accident that happened early Friday morning.
Though police have previously reported that alcohol had not been a factor in the accident, charges could still be coming.
“As of Nov. 30, 2009, the Florida Highway Patrol has been unable to speak to Mr. Woods about the crash he was involved in on the morning of Nov. 27, 2009, despite attempts to do so,” reads a statement from the Highway Patrol. “Mr. Woods’ representatives have provided us with his driver license information, vehicle registration and current proof of insurance, as required by Florida Law.”
Other celebrity blogs are reporting that the case is getting stickier. At about 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 27, Woods pulled out of the driveway of his Florida home in his black Cadillac Escalade and hit a fire hydrant and then a tree.
Police have reported that they found him with cuts and blood on his face and that when they arrived his wife, Elin Nordegren was helping him. Some think there was some kind of altercation between Woods and Nordegren over allegations that he was having an affair.
Woods published a statement on his Web site that reads the following:
“As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore.
This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.
This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.
The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.
This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.”
